Last Wednesday, Carol and Marta participated in the BIOMED 2025 Workshop, an event that covered a broad range of topics in biomedical research and nanomaterials.
Throughout the day, they attended sessions on cell culture fundamentals, nanomaterials for medical imaging, super-resolution microscopy, and flow cytometry, among others.
The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to deepen their understanding of techniques we actively use in our group — such as microscopy, flow cytometry, and cell culture — while also exploring the latest advances in nanomaterials for medical applications.
Although our group does not directly work with nanomaterials, it was fascinating to see how this field is progressing and to recognize parallels with our own research. Just like the molecules we study, nanomaterials interact with cells through specific entry and exit mechanisms, facing similar biological challenges despite using different types of carriers. This perspective offered valuable insights into the shared principles that govern cellular interactions across different systems.
